Front Office Finance Analyst

 

Our client, an asset management firm, is a global private asset management firm managing the assets of its founder and their employees. It focuses primarily on discretionary long/short equity investing and makes significant quantitative and macro investments. The firm is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, and maintains offices in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Boston and New York.

 

About the Portfolio Management Reporting & Analysis group:

The Front Office Finance team consists of approximately ten people within the Corporate Accounting organization. The department also works regularly with Human Resources, Legal, Senior Management and Front Office Personnel. The group is responsible for all aspects of front office finance including development of the monthly accounting, expense and balance sheet analysis, key metrics, cash forecasting, monthly reporting and ad-hoc analyses.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

 

This role will be responsible for the following key activities:

 

  • Preparation of Portfolio Manager P&L statements for specific trading groups and strategies
  • Assist in process reengineering efforts in the development of the compensation reporting, deferred compensation and trading cost allocation procedures
  • Assist in the development of monthly department trading P&Ls
  • Develop and review monthly income statement and balance sheet analyses of trading revenue, expense and accrued compensation
  • Interpret new portfolio manager contracts, assess the financial implications and prepare payout statements
  • Maintain and lead improvements to the “in house” trader compensation and reporting systems
  • Ad-hoc compensation/financial reporting and analysis
  • Identify, recommend and implement process improvements to enhance quality, control, efficiency in all Portfolio Management Reporting & Analysis procedures and systems

 

Personal Requirements & Skills:

 

  • Qualified applicants will have demonstrated leadership capabilities, excellent accounting skills and experience and strong communication (written and verbal)
  • BS or BA required
  • MBA or CPA a plus
  • 2-3 years prior Accounting, Management, Systems and/or Finance experience required
  • Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities combined with “big picture” problem-solving skills
  • Positive, team oriented attitude with flexibility to manage change, build working relationships across areas and identify opportunities for improvement is essential
