The Horizon Group has many different execution trader jobs located in different settings throughout Connecticut and New York. Execution traders develop skills that enable them to provide fast and efficient markets in competitive volumes to trading counter-parties. They value challenges, have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and can handle stressful environments with ease.

Individuals that excel in execution trader positions will be expected to identify and capitalize on market opportunities both independently and with brokers, make split second trading decisions, develop and maintain business relationships, improve execution and access to volume, and understand and apply knowledge of the exchanges’ rules and regulations. You will execute trades with brokers, bank sale desks, hedge funds, asset management firms, etc.

We have opportunities in many different types of buy-side firms. The main firms that we have job openings in are Asset Management firms, Hedge funds, private equity firms, and trading advisory firms.

Asset Management:

Asset Management is all about strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in the choice of debt vs. equity, domestic vs. international, growth vs. safety, and many other tradeoffs encountered in the attempt to maximize return at a given appetite for risk.

Hedge Fund:

A hedge fund is a limited partnership of investors that uses high risk methods, such as investing with borrowed money, in hopes of realizing large capital gains.

Private Equity:

private equity is an asset class consisting of equity securities and debt in operating companies that are not publicly traded on a stock exchange.

Trading Advisory Firms:

Such as Commodities Trading Advisors, a CTA is an individual or organization which, for compensation or profit, advises others as to the value of or the advisability of buying or selling futures contracts, options on futures, retail off-exchange forex contracts or swaps. Providing advice includes exercising trading authority over a customer’s account as well as giving advice based upon knowledge of or tailored to customer’s particular commodity interest account, particular commodity interest trading activity, or other similar types of information.
