Credit Analyst Jobs in New York

The Horizon Group is continually searching for motivated and dedicated credit analysts for our corporate banking clients located in New York, NY. The main job dutie(s) of a credit analyst is to analyze credit data and financial statements of individuals or firms to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. The credit analyst will also prepare reports with credit information for use in decision making.

There are a few different specialties / industries in which credit analysts can work. We are always recruiting for the following industries:

Technology, Media, Telecom (TMT) – Technology may include software companies, networking companies, and hardware companies. Media companies develop, produce and distribute multimedia content on TV, radio, in print and online. Television networks, cable TV providers, production studios and social media companies may all be included. Telecom focus on communications-related businesses such as phone, TV and Internet service providers.

Healthcare – credit analysis that focuses on the healthcare sector.

Commodities – physical commodities that include; agricultural, energy, chemical, mining, metals and steel.

Financial Institutions – working with clients to perform credit analysis in the asset management and related financial services industry.

Our clients usually require candidates to have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or in a related field. Certain banks and client will be willing to train, but for the most part it’s a requirement to have a finance background. It’s important to have a background in finance in order to succeed within the role. If you have a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, that’s even better! The likelihood of you getting the job just increased with a CFA designation.

If you want to succeed as a credit analyst, you’ll need to possess certain skills. These skills include, great analysis skills, attention to detail, good communication skills, knowledgeable about the industry, and being diligent in your tasks.
