FINANCIAL REPORTING ANALYST

The Horizon Group is searching for a Financial Reporting Analyst for one of our clients located in New York, NY. Our client is a rapidly growing organization that owns and operates multiple insurance companies and ancillary insurance businesses and has over $5 billion of assets under management. This group also provides strategic and operational support to the company's portfolio companies/subsidiaries, proactively formulates new investment strategies, oversees external financing and acquisition activities, and provides modeling support for insurer liabilities and capital.

The Financial Reporting Analyst will work directly with portfolio managers and the operations and accounting teams to track the performance of a broad range of complex investments, produce routine and ad hoc reporting. The successful candidate will possess strong data management, process optimization and quantitative skills and will demonstrate initiative, attention to detail and a high level of analytical aptitude. Additionally, they must excel in a high-pressure environment, be able to work independently and be capable of managing activities within the operations function with limited direction.

 

Responsibilities

Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Collect and archive a broad range of reporting provided by external and internal parties
  • Extract financial and performance information from internal and external reporting, and evaluate and synthesize this information in relation to surveillance and reporting objectives
  • Work closely with the asset management team and risk/analytics professionals to determine the proper booking and monitoring approach for new transactions, and to establish appropriate post- closing surveillance procedures
  • Develop performance reporting needed by the front office, risk/compliance and management teams and field ad hoc requests for reporting of this nature
  • Monitor data quality in investment management and accounting systems and assist with process improvement and efficiency initiatives
  • Manage the performance reporting and fee invoicing process for various funds
  • Work with various teams on projects related to the growth of business, such as process enhancements and supporting new business initiatives

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in a similar role (ideally 3+ years), including substantial exposure to complex non-traditional fixed income investments (e.g., structured credit, private credit, real estate), ideally including private transactions
  • Advanced Excel skills (VBA preferred). Data analytics skills and programming experience a plus
  • Prior experience with and the ability to understand credit agreements and term sheets relating to complex transaction structures
  • Experience creating new report templates and reporting frameworks and processes
  • Familiarity with accounting principles and financial reporting a plus
  • Strong academic performance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently and multi-task in a complex and fast-paced environment
